You can use the following documents to complete your NIF application :
Proof of address outside Portugal
Which can be one of the following documents :
Driver's license
The document must be currently valid (i.e., not expired).
Please include clear photos of both the front and back of the document.
The residential address should be clearly visible on the document.
Additionally, the expiration date must be clearly visible on the document.
Bank statement (issued within the last 3 months)
The document should clearly display the issue date.
The document must have been issued within the last three months.
Only an authentic bank statement will be accepted as proof. Other documents from the bank, such as confirmation letters or bank certificates, will not be considered valid.
Utility bill (issued within the last 3 months)
The document must clearly show the issue date.
The document must have been issued within the last three months.
Acceptable providers for the document include electricity, water, mobile SIM, internet, cable, and similar services.
We strongly recommend you to scan your document.
About the document language
If you are purchasing a NIF (Tax Identification Number) and the document you are submitting is not written in the Roman alphabet, you must provide an English translation of the document.
Language Document Guidelines
If you are purchasing an NIF (Número de Identificação Fiscal) only:
If the document is not written in the Roman alphabet, you are required to provide an English translation of the document. This translation must be certified.
If you are purchasing both an NIF and a Bank*:
The document must be in one of the following languages: English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, or French.
If your Proof of Address is not in any of the languages mentioned above:
Certification options for documents from the Schengen area:
For customers from the Schengen area, you can get your documents certified by a lawyer, notary, or any BCP branches located outside of Portugal.
Certification requirements for customers from countries outside the Schengen area or non-residents:
Documents can only be certified by authorized entities, such as the Portuguese Consulate/Embassy or any other entities with the Hague Apostille.
*Schengen Areas: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
